CSCS to end exemption to CITB Test

From 2nd September 2019 all applicants for CSCS cards will be required to pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test.

Currently if an applicant for a CSCS card has achieved an NVQ within the last 2 years, they do not have to sit the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test.

However, following the announcement by CSCS on 17th June this exemption will be withdrawn on 2nd September 2019 to meet the requirements of the Construction Leadership Council (CLC).

Therefore, all applicants for CSCS cards will be required to pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test regardless of when they obtained their NVQ.

If a CSCS card was gained without taking the CITB test, it will remain valid until the expiry date on the card. An applicant will need to undertake/pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test to renew the card.
