ARCA will be exhibiting at the launch of the asbestos phase of IOSH’s No Time to Lose campaign in London on Monday 9 April 2018.
As asbestos is the biggest occupational disease risk to construction workers in the UK, with currently approximately 5,000 asbestos related cancer deaths per year, the Institution of Occupational and Safety Health (IOSH) campaign aims to raise awareness of occupational cancer contracted by exposure to asbestos and help businesses take action.
ARCA will be supporting the launch event by exhibiting, so ARCA staff will be on hand to answer questions attendees/businesses may have on how to manage the risks from asbestos. Also, ARCA will have free information available on asbestos surveys to clients’ legal responsibilities.
“We are delighted to support this campaign as we can continue to make more organisations aware of how to manage the risks from asbestos,” commented Steve Sadley, Chief Executive of the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association (ARCA).
“Although asbestos was banned in the UK in 1999, materials containing asbestos can still be found in a large number of buildings, so being aware of where asbestos can be found and how to manage it is vital to reducing the health risks faced by workers.”
